Hi Friends,

Just recently heard about these plans but know little about them. My understanding its a policy that covers short term HOME HEALTH CARE (basic needs while recovering)
  • -I'm reading they basically provide ONLY 60 day HH care...is this true?
  • -If above is true, why wouldn't someone just use their HH medicare benefits?
I put in a call to some of the companies that write these; looking for feedback when they return my call.

Anyone have knowledge of how these plans work?

Thanks for your Help...

I've written a couple, as a last resort. All we have in Maine is Medico, but in NH I can use GTL. I don't use them unless a client's already been declined for long term care insurance, and then only if I can't make a Life & LTC or chronic illness rider work.

He's talking about stand a lone Home Heathcare policies. The title of the thread is wrong. Last I looked Medico didn't have one.

As far as Short Term Nursing Home policies with home health care, there are quite a few companies in addition to Medico that have them.

California is another state that does not allow these plans. I have heard various reasons over the years. I think only Bankers Life has these plans here. Not sure if they still do though.

Ok,...so here's my results

-UNL, doesn't write SHORT TERM CARE (in fla)
-Medico, doesn't write SHORT TERM CARE (in fla)
-GTL, doesn't write SHORT TERM CARE (in fla)
